Report: Spurs-linked defender has told teammates he is leaving this summer

According to BILD (as relayed by BuliNews), rumoured Tottenham target Borna Sosa has already told his Stuttgart teammates that he is leaving the club this summer.

Tottenham could make big changes at left-back ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge, with The Evening Standard reporting last week that the club could decide to offload both Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon this summer.

Sosa, who has been one of the standout wing-backs in the Bundesliga over the last couple of years, is rumoured to be one of the names on Tottenham’s shortlist, with Sport Bild (via Sport Witness) reporting back in March that the Lilywhites are keeping an eye on the Croat.

The 26-year-old, who has scored twice and provided 12 assists across all competitions in 2022-23, admitted a couple of months ago that he dreams of playing in the Premier League (Dalmatinski Portal).

If Bild’s latest update is to be believed, Sosa has already told his teammates that he will not be playing his football at the Mercedes-Benz Arena next season.

The report states that Stuttgart’s 3-1 second-leg win in the playoff against Hamburg was the left-back’s final game for the club but the publication provides no information on whether the player has decided on his next destination.

I can see why Sosa would have been a target for Spurs during the Conte era, given his effectiveness in the final third.

However, Postecoglou is likely going to employ a back four and prefers to play with inverted full-backs, which means that the Croat would not be a particularly good fit for the system.
