Report: Spurs-linked defender set to be made available for transfer in January

Lille are set to make reported Tottenham Hotspur target Zeki Celik available for transfer during the January transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.

The report claims that the French club’s current owners believe that they inherited a debt of around £136 million and must look to balance their books, which will require departures in the winter window.

Lille president Olivier Letang was said to have wanted to have balanced the books during the summer window but was unable to offload enough players,

Celik, along wth Jonathan Ikone and Renato Sanches are also named as those who could head out of the door at the Ligue 1 outfit.

TuttoMercatoWeb claimed last month that the North Londoners are still weighing up a move for the Celik, 24, while there is also interest from Fiorentina.

SpursWeb Opinion

Following the departure of Serge Aurier, Spurs decided to bring in Emerson Royal during the summer transfer window and the Brazilian appears to be a promising signing. However, he has little competition on the right flank with Japhet Tanganga naturally being a central defender while Matt Doherty has done very little to warrant a place since moving from Wolves last year.
