Report: Spurs-linked La Liga defender would consider Premier League return

Stefan Savic is open to leaving Atletico Madrid this summer amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report in Mundo Deportivo (as relayed by TEAMtalk).

Savic has been an important member of the Atletico squad for the last five years and has been a reliable performer for Diego Simeone’s side whenever called upon.

Todofichajes reported last week that Jose Mourinho was a fan of Savic and had urged the Spurs hierarchy to make an offer for him this summer.

The report claimed that the Spurs boss viewed the centre back as the ideal replacement for Jan Verotnghen and that Atleti were willing to part ways with him for €15 million.

Mundo Deportivo have placed his valuation slightly higher at €20 million.

They reveal that the 29-year-old defender is open to considering a return to the Premier League, given that his prospects of getting regular game time at Atletico look bleak.

They also claim that Spurs are keen on landing the former Manchester City stopper and that Savic could be open to the prospect of joining the North London outfit.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Savic is underrated and would be a terrific addition for us, particularly at the rumoured price. Not only is he dominant in the air but his passing range is fantastic. Like Toby, he is quite skilled at switching the play with long diagonals.
