Report: Spurs-linked Lorenzo Insigne seen meeting with MLS representatives

The agent of Tottenham transfer target Lorenzo Insigne has reportedly been spotted meeting with MLS vice president Lino Di Cuollo, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian publication claim the winger’s agent and football intermediary, Andrea D’Amico, linked up with Di Cuollo in Naples on Wednesday, however, the discussion was not about a move to North America for his client.

The report claims that Insigne was also present in the meeting alongside a representative from MLS outfit Toronto FC, with the reason being the Italian is planning on investing in real estate ventures in the USA.

The 30-year-old is out of contract with Serie A side Napoli at the end of the season and has been linked with a move away.

CalcioMercato previously reported that Tottenham have been keeping tabs on Insigne’s situation ahead of a potential move worth €25 million (£21.5m) in the January transfer window.

Even if it wasn’t to do with Insigne playing in MLS, it would not be surprising if it happened anyway, as it has been a fast-growing league to play in over the last few years. Despite being 30-years-old now, he could definitely still offer something useful in Europe.
