Report: Spurs-linked midfielder could be available for just £13m this summer

Italian publication CM.it have revealed that Tottenham target Morten Hjulmand could be available for a cut-price fee in the summer.

Hjulmand has been one of the best defensive midfielders in Serie A this season, having seamlessly made the step up to the top flight following Lecce’s promotion.

CalcioMercato reported a few days ago that the Dane’s performances had caught the attention of Spurs, with the report adding that the North London club had already sent their scouts Stadio Via del Mare this season to watch the player in action.

The report also revealed that Southampton had presented an offer of €13m (£11.4m) for Hjulmand towards the end of the January transfer window but the bid was turned down.

If CM.it’s latest update is to be believed, the midfielder will be allowed to leave in the summer, with Lecce expecting offers from Italy and the Premier League for the player.

The report mentions Roma and Inter Milan as two clubs who are tracking Hjulmand and adds that Lecce would be willing to sell the 23-year-old for just around €15m (£13.2m).

Spurs Web Opinion

It is far from surprising that Tottenham are following Hjulmand’s progress, given that Fabio Paratici and his network of scouts keep a close eye on the best-emerging talent in Italian football.

However, just because Spurs are tracking the Dane’s development does not mean that an offer is likely to arrive from the North London club in the summer.
