According to the print edition of Correio da Manha (29/04/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness), rumoured Tottenham target Joao Palhinha could leave Sporting Lisbon for a cut-price fee this summer.

Spurs reportedly had offers rejected by Sporting for Palhinha last summer (Daily Star) and they have been backed to reignite their interest in the Portugal international this summer (Record).

The print edition of O Jogo (27/04/22) claimed recently that the midfielder is expected to leave Jose Alvalade Stadium this summer, naming the Lilywhties as one of three leading contenders for his signature, alongside Paris Saint-Germain and Wolves.

Correio da Manha have now said that Sporting have decided to cash in on Palhinha, who has four years remaining on his contract (Transfermarkt).

However, the report explains that the Portuguese giants are not likely to get the €40m (£33.5m) price they previously hoped to get for the 26-year-old due to the injury-hit season he has had.

It is asserted that Palhinha is expected to be sold for a fee of around €30m (£25.1m) this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even though Palhinha might be a tempting option for Spurs at the reported price, there are better central midfield options out there, with several Premier League stars expected to move this summer.

While the Portuguese international would be a decent squad player, Conte might prefer singing players like Yves Bissouma or Ruben Neves, who would strengthen the starting eleven.
