According to CalcioMercato, Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, who was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar earlier in the summer, wants to join Napoli.
Spurs are reportedly keen on bringing in a midfielder before the end of the transfer window, with question marks surrounding the future of Tanguy Ndombele.
The Frenchman has allegedly informed the club of his desire to leave, with Tottenham said to have explored the possibility of using in a swap deal for the likes of Bayern Munich’s Corentin Tolisso, Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Juventus’ Weston McKennie.
One central midfielder who now looks unlikely to now head to North London is Berge, who the Lilywhites were reported to be interested in following Sheffield United’s relegation from the Premier League.
Calcio Mercato have now revealed the Norwegian international, who was also linked with Tottenham during his Genk days, wants to complete a move to Napoli.
However, the report states that Luciano Spalletti’s side would prefer to sign Berge on loan while the Blades would prefer to sell the 23-year-old permanently.
Spurs Web Opinion
I like Berge and I believe he can be a very useful cog in the wheel for a good team. If we are to move on both Ndombele and Sissoko (which is a big ‘if’), I would not mind seeing us bring Berge in as a squad option as it seems like Sarr is going to be loaded back to Metz.
