Report: Spurs-linked striker close to joining La Liga club

According to reports coming out of Spain, Borussia Dortmund striker Paco Alcacer is close to joining Villarreal.

The Spanish striker is one of many names who has been linked with a move to Spurs as Jose Mourinho seeks to sign a replacement to the injured Harry Kane.

The 26-year-old reportedly became available after falling out of favour at Dortmund with the arrival of Erling Haaland.

A report in The Express suggested that Alcacer was on Mourinho’s shortlist of strikers that he was considering to potentially bring to North London but both Marca and Mundo Deportivo now report that a transfer to Villarreal is imminent for the striker.

Mundo Deportivo claim that while Alcacer has agreed to join the La Liga outfit, the two clubs are still discussing whether the deal would be a loan or a permanent transfer.

It is reported however that Dortmund want to recoup most if not all of the €21 million they paid for the striker two years ago.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I rate Alcacer quite highly, I don’t believe he is the right fit for us. We ideally need a target man who is good at holding the ball up and bringing others into play while the Spanish international is more of a pure finisher. I think a move for a striker of the ilk of Giroud or Jose makes a lot more sense for us.
