Report: Spurs-linked striker could be set for £3m transfer to La Liga club

Crotone striker Simeon Nwankwo, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, could be on his way to Mallorca according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Tottenham are reportedly looking to add another centre-forward to their squad, with Nuno Espirito Santo allegedly keen on implementing a formation with two strikers next season.

There also remains a question mark about Harry Kane’s future at the club and the England captain’s departure would certainly necessitate a significant strengthening of the attacking department.

Nwankwo is one of the strikers Fabio Paratici is thought to have his eye on after his prolific season last time out.

Despite Crotone finishing in the drop zone with just 23 points, the Nigerian international still managed 20 goals in the Serie A last campaign.

However, if Gianluca Di Marzio’s latest update is to be believed, Nwankwo could be on his way to Mallorca.

The journalist reveals that the La Liga club have made a €3.5m offer (£2.9m) for the striker, who is into the final year of his contract with the Italian outfit.

Di Marzio explains that next week could be crucial in determining Nwankwo’s future, with the 29-year-old also said to be interesting Lazio and newly-promoted Salernitana.

Spurs Web Opinion

Nwankwo (or ‘Simy’ as he is known) is certainly a level or two below the kind of strikers we should be targetting even as a potential backup to Kane.

Given the profile of the players which Paratici has gone for so far, we are much more likely to make a move for young, up-and-coming striker of Vlahovic’s profile.
