Report: Spurs-linked striker has ‘good chance’ of leaving next summer

Le10 Sport have claimed that Lille striker, Jonathan David, who was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar in the past, is expected to leave Lille next summer.

David has been a consistent performer for Lille since arriving from Belgian football back in the summer of 2020, with his 13 goals last season being crucial in the club’s march to the Ligue 1 title.

The Canadian international has started the season in fine form for Les Dogues, having found the back of the net on eight occasions in 13 league games so far.

Tottenham have held a long-term interest in the 21-year-old, with the North London club reportedly sending scouts to Belgium on multiple occasions to watch him during his Gent days (Het Laatste Nieuws).

However, it was Lille who won the race for him last summer, snapping up the centre-forward as a replacement for Victor Osimhen.

Le10Sport now claim that David could now be on the move again as Lille need to raise some funds due to their perilous financial position.

The report explains that the striker is not likely to be sold in January but there is ‘a good chance’ that he will leave next summer.

It is said that Newcastle United, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain hold an interest in David.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham were evidently after David a year and a half ago but with Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte now calling the shots, our transfer targets are likely to have changed considerably.

I personally think that the 21-year-old will be a smart signing and an excellent fit for Conte’s system but it is anybody’s guess if he is still on our radar.
