Report: Spurs-linked striker has scored more goals than Kane and Son this season

Tottenham Hotspur might be ruing the fact that they reportedly missed out on RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka during the transfer window as the striker has started the season on fire for the Austrian side.

Football.London revealed that Daka was one of a number strikers which Spurs were linked with for during the transfer window before they eventually settled on singing Carlos Vinicius.

The same publication also stated that Daka being represented by 12Management, an organisation run by former Spurs striker Frederic Kanoute, could have given the Lilywhites an upper hand in securing his signature.

However, The Evening Standard later revealed that the Zambian international wanted to stay put at Salzburg and continue his development for another year despite hearing about interest from the Lilywhites.

If the way the 22-year-old has started the season is anything to go by, his value might well double or triple next summer.

Daka struck again for Jesse Marsch’s side on Saturday as they overcame Austria Wien 2-0, with the striker taking his tally of goals to 12 all competitions for this season, a higher tally than both Harry Kane and Heung-min Son (transfermarkt.com).

The Lilywhites are not doing too badly on the goal-scoring front themselves and Jose Mourinho will be pleased with Carlos Vinicius’ debut against LASK but perhaps the club might regret missing out on Daka, who seems destined for the top.
