Report: Spurs-linked striker rejects contract offered by club – Edging closer to exit

Rumoured Tottenham target Sasa Kalajdzic has rejected a new contract offered to him by Stuttgart, Kicker have revealed.

Kalajdzic enjoyed a prolific 2020/21 season for Stuttgart, scoring 17 goals and providing six assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt) but the centre-forward has missed the majority of the current campaign through injury.

The Austrian international was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar during last summer’s transfer window (Eurosport) and reports have backed the North Londoners to reignite their interest in the 24-yea-old this summer (Kicker).

Stuttgart director of football Sven Mislintat said a couple of weeks ago that the Bundesliga club are relaxed about Kalajdzic’s future despite the striker’s contract only running until 2023.

According to Kicker’s latest update, Stuttgart put a ‘very good offer’ on the table for the centre-forward but the player did not accept the offer.

The report adds that Kalajdzic is getting ‘closer and closer’ to a departure from the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

It is stated that the striker is attracting interest from Italy and England while Borussia Dortmund are also discussing a potential move for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

Kalajdzic may not be a big name that gets Spurs fans excited but he fits the bill for what we need as a backup to Kane.

His ability in the air and his physicality will give Conte a plan B of going direct when we are struggling to break down a low block.

The fact that he is likely to be available on a cut-price fee means that the signing will have very little risk attached to it.
