Report: Spurs-linked Vlahovic close to new contract – Release clause value revealed

Corriere dello Sport have reported that Tottenham-linked striker, Dusan Vlahovic is now close to signing a new contract with Fiorentina.

However, while on the face this may seem like bad news for Spurs if they still hope to sign the forward in the future, it could give them a clear path to his signature.

When Harry Kane was linked with a Tottenham exit over the summer, Vlahovic was reported to be a target for the North London club. Alasdair Gold went as far as to say that the Fiorentina man was Fabio Paratici’s number one striker target.

The potential new contract is said to be worth €4m (£3.5m) per year for the Serbian star, it may also include a release clause. This buy-out value could be as high as €80m (£68m).

Last season, Vlahovic managed 21 goals and two assists in 37 Serie A games for Fiorentina and already has six goals in seven appearances across all competitions this season.

A report from Calciomercato.it recently claimed that Tottenham were set to return for Vlahovic next year after missing out on him in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Vlahovic seems to be the one Tottenham want to go for if and when Harry Kane leaves. I would expect the transfer to happen next summer, with Kane leaving for around £100m and Vlahovic coming in for around £70m, giving Spurs some left over to spend.
