Report: Spurs linked with potential Kieran Trippier replacement

It looks like Tottenham Hotspur will be entering the new season with wholesale changes in the full-back positions. Kieran Tripper has already left to join Atletico Madrid while Danny Rose could still leave before the close of the window (Sky Sports).

While Spurs have been linked with Ryan Sessegnon this summer, a report in the suggested that Pochettino is not particularly keen on getting a replacement in for Trippier (Evening Standard).

The Argentine reportedly wants to allow Juan Foyth and Kyle Walker-Peters to challenge Serge Aurier for the right-back spot.

However, a report in Transfermarketweb has now once again linked Tottenham with a move for Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj.

Spurs were linked with Hysaj earlier in the window as well but the rumour seemed to have died out.

However, the above report claims that Spurs and Roma have both made approaches for the Albanian International who has two years left to run on his contract at Naples.

The 25-year-old, who made 35 appearances for the Serie A side last season, is comfortable both at right-back as well as left-back.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Hysaj has been a consistent performer over the last couple of seasons, he is fairly unspectacular going forward and is not the kind of full-back that Pochettino generally likes in his system. We at Spurs Web believe the club do not need to add another right back to the squad this summer and should instead prioritise other areas.
