Report: Spurs-linked World Cup winning defender reportedly made available on loan

Barcelona are willing to allow World Cup-winning centre-back Samuel Umtiti to leave on loan next season, according to Spanish outlet SPORT.

The injury-stricken defender has been rumoured to have received interest from the Premier League with both Tottenham and Arsenal said to be monitoring his position.

He has struggled massively with injuries this season and he has only managed to make 13 La Liga appearances this season due to reoccurring issues (Transfermarkt).

Jose Mourinho is believed to be looking to strengthen his defence this summer with their defensive record leaving a lot to be desired this campaign (Football.London).

Veteran defender Jan Vertonghen is also set for the exit door this summer when his Spurs contract runs out at the end of the month.

If Umtitti did not have such a poor injury record, then this would be a great transfer. However, I feel for next season we really need to nail down our defensive record and a constant change of defenders could prove costly over the course of the season.
