Report: Spurs-linked youngster could turn down Brentford and wait for bigger club

The Sun have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are among the teams interested in a move for Nottingham Forest starlet Brennan Johnson.

After returning from his loan spell at Lincon City last campaign, Johnson has established himself as a regular in Forest’s starting lineup this season.

The attacking midfielder has won several admirers with his performances in the Championship, scoring four goals and registering five assists so far this campaign.

The Sun claim that Spurs, Newcastle and Arsenal hold an interest in the 20-year-old but add that Brentford are look set to steal a march on those clubs by making an offer for Johnson.

The report reveals that the Bees have been watching the youngster closely for several months and could now launch a £14m offer to test Forest’s resolve.

However, it is asserted that Steve Cooper’s side might reject Brentford’s offer as they believe Johnson could help them win promotion to the Premier League.

It is explained that the Wales international might also turn down the approach from Thomas Franck’s side as he would rather wait for a bigger club to come calling for him.

Johnson seems like a fabulous talent and his versatility will make him a good fit for both the 3-4-3 and the 3-5-2.

However, like Bryan Gil, he would be a signing for the future and not a player one can expect to have an instant impact on the team.

In fact, I suspect that even if Spurs complete a deal for the youngster, they would probably be willing to loan him back to Forest.
