Report: Spurs locked in a battle with AC Milan to land 19-year-old Hungarian starlet

Italian journalist Alessandro Jacobone has revealed (as relayed by Football Fancast) that Tottenham Hotspur have now set their sights on RB Salzburg starlet Dominik Szoboszlai.

After putting in several impressive displays for last campaign, Szoboszlai has established himself as a regular in the Salzburg team this season, registering 10 goals and 13 assists in all competitions so far (transfermarkt.com).

His performances have been crucial in helping Salzburg build up a six-point lead at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga.

The teenager has also already been capped eight times by Hungary at a senior level.

Although Szoboszlai broke into the side as an attacking midfielder on the left-hand side, he has played a more box-to-box role this season for Jesse Marsch’s side.

The 19-year-old has shown that he is adept at picking the ball up deep inside Salzburg’s own half and turning defence into attack.

This signing has Daniel Levy written all over it. While there is an element of risk involved since Szoboszlai is unproven in a top league, the potential pay off is considerable if he manages to find his feet in the Premier League. Szoboszlai has a lot of similarities to Jack Grealish in the way he glides past challenges in the middle of the park as well as his ability to pick out a pass if afforded space.
