Report: Spurs locked in potential four-way battle for 24-year-old midfielder

According to Kicker, Tottenham Hotspur are locked in a four-way battle for the services of RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer.

According to reports over recent weeks, Antonio Conte wants to make six new signings this summer, including two midfielders (Telegraph).

Laimer is thought to be one of the options on the North Londoners’ radar, with Bild previously reporting that Spurs have followed the 24-year-old’s progress for the last two years.

Although the midfielder has not been a regular in Leipzig’s starting eleven this season, he has managed eight-goal contributions in 24 Bundesliga appearances (Transfermarkt).

Kicker reported a couple of weeks ago that Bayern Munich could also enter the race for the Austrian international, who has 12 months left to run on his contract at the Red Bull Arena.

The same publication have now revealed that apart from Spurs and Bayern, two other clubs also have their eyes on Laimer – Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.

Kicker add that it is ‘currently unclear’ whether the midfielder will extend his contract at Leipzig or look for a new challenge this summer.

We lack goals from midfield at the moment and Laimer is perhaps singing that will address that issue. I am not convinced that the Austrian would improve our starting eleven but he would be an upgrade on Harry Winks should the England international push for a move this summer.
