Report: Spurs looking at Championship star as possible new goalkeeper signing

The Guardian reporter Will Unwin has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Seny Dieng.

If there were any question marks regarding whether Spurs do actually need a new goalkeeper, those have been answered emphatically over the last couple of months, with Hugo Lloris showing clear signs of decline.

Reports over the last week have indicated that Antonio Conte’s men want to sign a new number one next summer who is good with the ball at his feet and can make smart decisions under pressure (Daily Mail).

The two goalkeepers who have been most heavily linked with a move to the North London club recently are Everton’s Jordan Pickford (The Sun) and Bournemouth’s David Raya (Guardian).

However, Unwin has now taken to social media to reveal that the Lilywhites could look to raid QPR for Dieng.

The Senegal international has come on leaps and bounds since first establishing himself as Rangers’ number one at the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

Unwin revealed that Spurs could face competition from Brighton and Brentford for the 28-year-old shot-stopper.

If Tottenham are eyeing Unwin, they are probably looking at him as a potential understudy to eventually replace Fraser Forster rather than as Hugo’s successor. I fully expect Spurs to sign one of Jordan Pickford, David Raya, Illan Meslier or Robert Sanchez as Lloris’ replacement in the summer.
