Report: Spurs looking to ‘move quickly’ to sign ‘the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic’

The Daily Star have reported that Tottenham are looking to ‘move quickly’ to sign Wahid Faghir from Velje this summer (28/03/21 page 45). Velje currently play in the top division of Danish football.

The report reveals that Premier League rivals, Leicester City, have already had a £1m bid for the player turned down and Spurs are now hoping to swoop in.

The Star claim that the 17-year-old starlet has even been likened to legendary centre-forward, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, very high praise indeed.

In terms of career experience, Faghir already has 36 senior appearances under his belt and is a full international for the Danish U21 side. Spurs fans will be able to keep an eye out for him in the current U21 European Championships.

Faghir has also already netted eight goals and recorded four assists in the Velje senior side following his nine goals and three assists in 15 U19 appearances (TransferMarkt).

Despite the fact that Leicester reportedly had a £1m bid turned down, TransferMarkt say that Faghir is only worth £450,000 in the current market.
