According to a report in SportBild (as relayed by FCB Inside), Tottenham Hotspur attempted to sign Bayern Munich starlet Mathys Tel but the Bundesliga side knocked back their approach.
Tel is thought off very highly at Bayern, with the French teenager demonstrating over the last 18 months that he has all the attributes to evolve into a top player.
The versatile wide-forward, who prefers playing on the left flank, has scored six goals and provided three assists this season despite the fact that just four of his 24 appearances this season have been starts (Tranfermarkt).

Tottenham expressed interest in Mathys Tel on loan
Bild claimed that Spurs expressed an interest in bringing the 18-year-old to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this month.
It is explained that both the Lilywhites and Werder Bremen sought information regarding a loan deal for Tel but Bayern swiftly ‘ruled out’ an exit for the youngster mid-season.
However, the report adds that Thomas Tuchel’s men will consider loaning out the teenager next season. It remains to be seen if Spurs will reignite their interest in the versatile attacker next summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
Perhaps Spurs might have sought information about Tel during their negotiations with Bayern Munich regarding Eric Dier. However, I suspect the North Londoners would have wanted an option to buy attached to any loan deal, which I doubt the German club would have entertained.
