Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have decided against signing a midfielder during the current transfer window after abandoning pursuits of their three top targets for the position.
The report states that Spurs are still in talks with Club Brugge over a deal for Antonio Nusa and are expected to strike a deal for the winger despite Newcastle’s efforts to hijack the transfer.
Football Insider say that Nusa will sign for Tottenham and be loaned back to Club Brugge but the outlet alleges that he will be the final player to arrive through the door at Hotspur Way this month.

Three midfielder deals collapse for Tottenham
That is because Tottenham have now called off their efforts to sign all of the three midfield players who were on their wishlist.
It is explained that Conor Gallagher was Spurs’ top target but the 23-year-old is now expected to remain at Stamford Bridge, with the Lilywhites likely to put off their pursuit until next summer.
Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou’s men have allegedly also ended their efforts to sign Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips and Atalanta’s Ederson, with the club finding both players to be ‘too expensive’.

Finding a buyer for Hojbjerg is also seemingly proving complicated, which might perhaps be one of the reasons why Spurs have decided to put off their pursuit of a midfielder until next summer.
With Maddison now back fit, Postecoglou certainly has enough options at his disposal in the middle of the park to navigate until the end of the season.
