Report: Spurs make contact with Ajax to open transfer talks

Ajax are ready to sell Andre Onana who is said to be on Tottenham’s radar this summer for just €30 million, according to a report in L’Equipe (as translated by GFFN).

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Onana since February, with the club said to be exploring goalkeeping options to compete with Hugo Lloris for the number one spot (Daily Mail).

L’Equipe now report that both Tottenham, as well as their London rivals Chelsea, have both began talks to sign the 24-year-old goalkeeper this summer.

The report reveals that the Cameroon international is keen on seeking a new challenge after spending four successful years at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

It is claimed that along with Spurs and Chelsea; Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also considering making an offer for the Ajax star, who will reportedly be made available for €30 million this summer, with just two years left to run on his current contract.

Onana is said to prefer a move to PSG but the report suggests that the Ligue 1 champions have to move early if they hope to beat Spurs and Chelsea land his signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

We are certain to sign a goalkeeper this summer since Michel Vorm is set to leave. The question was always going to be whether we sign someone who will be second choice or a goalkeeper who can push Lloris and potentially dislodge him from the side.

If Onana is available for just €30 million, a lot of clubs will be tempted by that deal. However, he might end up choosing Chelsea over us as he is more likely to be first-choice at Stamford Bridge straight away due to Kepa’s poor form.
