Report: Spurs make contact with representatives of Premier League midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with the representatives of Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

According to Football Insider, the Lilywhites have been in touch with the agent of the Danish midfielder who is believed to be at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is believed Jose Mourinho wants to bolster his defensive midfield options following the departure of Victor Wanyama along with Eric Dier’s positional change to the heart of the Spurs defence.

The midfielder was stripped of the Southampton captain’s armband after admitting that he feels he should be playing at a higher level than what he is at Southampton (Evening Standard).

Hojbjerg still has one year left on his contract with the south coast outfit which has left Southampton slapping a £25million price tag on the midfielder.

The report claims that his valuation could be lower to £20million with the Saints potentially ready to do business at the lower price.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Spurs want to bring Hojbjerg in (which seems pretty clear they do) I feel they need to be proactive when the transfer window opens. It seems the midfielder is picking up interest from elsewhere and Spurs can’t afford to get caught up in a bidding war with their mere transfer budget.
