Report: Spurs make decision on £62million-rated Italian midfielder

Tottenham have decided not to follow up on their reported interest in Roma midfielder, Nicolo Zaniolo. (TEAMtalk)

The report suggests the Italian side have put a £62million asking price on the midfielder leaving Spurs unable to pursue their interest in the Italian international.

It is believed Spurs and Roma prevously held talks last summer over a potential deal for Zaniolo which would have involved Toby Alderweireld making the move the other way.

However, Spurs moved their interest on from the Italian and targeted Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso instead.

Despite signing Lo Celso and Ndombele, it is thought Spurs continued to monitor the highly-rated 20-year-old with the possibility of making a move for him this summer.

Zaniolo could be placed on Roma’s transfer list as a result of the money worries in Serie A, but it will not be Spurs who will pursue their inteest youngster due to the high asking price. (Daily Star)

Zaniolo has made a name for himself in Italy, however, the asking price means a lot of the clubs – including Spurs – will be unable to follow up their interest in the midfielder. Given the current financial struggles, it is only likely the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona will be able to fork out £60million on a 20-year-old this summer.
