Tottenham have made an early move to sign Chelsea’s Willian this summer, according to a report by Football Insider.
The Brazilian who is out of contract at Stamford Bridge has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs with Mundo Deportivo installing the North Londoners as the favourites to secure his signature should he become a free agent.
The Blues star has already revealed that talks with Chelsea over a new deal have ground to a halt after the club refused to offer him a three-year deal (Gazeta Esportiva).
Football Insider claim that Willian is on the top of Jose Mourinho’s wish list in the summer and that Daniel Levy haw moved early in order take advantage of his contract stalemate.
Despite the financial uncertainty which clubs are facing amidst the coronavirus shutdown, which led to Tottenham’s decision to put their scouting department on hold, it is suggested that the club consider Willian a realistic target.
Spurs Web Opinion
Given the financial constraints we likely have to operate within this summer, the club will probably view signing Willian on a free transfer as too good an opportunity to miss out on. The Brazilian can certainly be a good squad option for us and Mourinho might once again be able to get the best out of him.
