Report: Spurs make last-ditch attempt to hijack striker transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have made a last-ditch attempt to hijack the transfer of Louie Barry to Aston Villa claim Football Insider.

The Daily Mail reported a week ago that the talented 16-year-old forward, who moved from West Bromwich Albion to Barcelona last June, is unsettled in the Catalan capital due to recent coaching changes.

The report claimed that while Spurs were keen to bring the youngster to North London, the teenager was likely to join Villa, where he will be reunited with West Brom’s former academy manager Mark Harrison.

If the report in Football Insider is to be believed, Spurs are now making one final attempt to steal the striker from under the Villans’ noses.

However, they further report that the Midlands outfit are confident of sealing the transfer after agreeing a £3 million fee with Barcelona for the promising youngster.

They claim that the striker has already visited Villa’s training ground on Thursday to put the finishing touches on the transfer.

Based on the players we have been linked with so far, it looks very much like Spurs are going to continue their policy of buying young players with potential under Jose Mourinho. However, with Troy Parrott already at the club, I am not sure bringing in another highly-rated young forward is the way to go as it might interfere with the Spurs striker’s development.
