Report: Spurs make ‘major breakthrough’ in contract talks with Troy Parrott

Tottenham Hotspur have apparently made a major breakthrough in talks with Troy Parrott over a new contract for the teenager.

Football Insider claims that a source within Spurs has revealed that progress has been made in discussions between Parrott and Tottenham. The club are also said to be ‘increasingly confident’ that the 17-year-old will sign a new deal.

This comes just a month after the same publication reported that talks between Spurs and the Republic of Ireland striker had opened.

Parrott remained at Tottenham past the January window closure rather than going out on loan, as he is set to turn 18 in just a matter of days.

The youngster has enjoyed a positive breakthrough season in 2019/20, including his full Spurs debut, a Premier League debut, a debut for the Republic of Ireland U21 side, and a subsequent first call-up to the senior team.

In fact, with Kane’s injury and a lack of new striker signings, Parrott is technically the only first-team natural striker in the Spurs squad.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This needs to be done as soon as possible, simple as that. Get a five-year contract signed and start giving the lad some minutes on the pitch.
