Report: Spurs make new £61m for top summer target

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly submitted a fresh bid for one of their top targets, Giovani Lo Celso, tabling an offer of £61m (Mucho Deporte).

The BBC reported that Spurs bid an initial £53m for the playmaker last month, which would have been a club record fee at the time (BBC).

However, Real Betis shot the offer down as they believed it was not close enough to Lo Celso staggering £88m buyout clause, despite the fact that the Spanish club had bought him for just £21m months earlier (Goal).

The report of a new and improved bid comes just days after Sky Sports claimed that talks between Spurs and Betis had been put on hold due to valuation differences.

Mucho Deporte claim that Betis are holding out for a bid of £67m if they are to sell the attacking midfielder this summer, which would be a club record for Spurs.

How much do Spurs want this 23-year-old Argentine?
