Report: Spurs make significant Christian Eriksen transfer decision

Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen’s future has been subject to a lot of speculation recently after he came out and admitted that he wished to seek a new challenge (Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet).

The 27-year-old has been linked heavily with a move to Real Madrid this summer but a deal hasn’t materialized so far (Marca).

A report in Spanish publication AS claims that Tottenham are now willing to sell Christian Eriksen to Real Madrid’s local rivals, Atletico Madrid for as little as €60 million (£54 million) this summer.

Marca reported earlier in the window that Spurs wanted £70m for the star, while Football London claim that Levy initially wanted a whopping £130m for him, so this is a significant price drop.

The report suggests that representatives from Spurs and Alteti have already met regarding the Danish International and are now in the process of negotiating his transfer. It is also claimed that Real Madrid have fully withdrawn their interest in Eriksen.

Finally, the report asserts that Tottenham have not approached Eriksen or his representatives with an offer to renew his contract this summer.

If there is truth to this report, then it could mean that Tottenham now want to get the deal done quickly so that they can focus on getting their targets like Giovani Lo Celso in before the end of the transfer window. However, it remains to be seen how keen Eriksen will be to move to Atleti as the move won’t represent a major step up.
