Report: Spurs make transfer decision over midfield target

While Tottenham are reportedly close to securing the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke, Pochettino is reportedly keen to get in more attacking talent before the end of the transfer window (Football.London).

With Christian Eriksen being linked with a move to Real Madrid all summer (The Sun), a replacement for the Dane is thought to be a priority for Tottenham.

Giovani Lo Celso is said to be the club’s primary target to replace the 27-year-old (Sky Sports) but Tottenham have also been linked with Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes (O Jogo).

Fernandes was unstoppable for Sporting last season, netting 32 goals in all competitions, a ridiculous stat for someone who isn’t an out and out striker.

Spurs, Manchester United and Liverpool were all reportedly monitoring the 24-year-old who is said to be available for £70million (The Sun).

However, a report in The Express, Spurs and Liverpool have now both withdrawn from the race for the Portuguese international, leaving the Red Devils with a free run at the midfielder.

While Fernandes is clearly talented, Tottenham won’t likely be able to afford his £70million asking price particularly considering they are reportedly spending a similar amount on Ndombele.

This report confirms that Lo Celso is Pochettino’s preferred replacement if Eriksen is to leave, and thus the Argentine is probably who the club will be going for.
