Report: Spurs making ‘big push’ to sign right-back with 40 international caps on a free

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the market for a new right-back this summer as they make a ‘big push’ to sign PSG star, Thomas Meunier.

Serge Aurier has been the first-choice under Jose Mourinho in North London since the Special One took over, although the Ivorian can be guilty of defensive errors.

The only other right-back at the club, Kyle Walker-Peters, was loaned out to Southampton in January, while Kieran Trippier was sold to Atletico Madrid last summer.

Spurs also have the likes of Japhet Tanganga, Eric Dier, Juan Foyth, Davinson Sanchez, and Moussa Sissoko, all of whom have experience in covering at right-back.

However, 90 Mins now report that Spurs are keen on making a move for PSG full-back, Thomas Meunier, this summer, as the 28-year-old could be available on a free.

Meunier is not expected to sign a new contract with the French giants, with 90 Min sources revealing that his future may lie in North London with Spurs.

Mourinho is said to be unconvinced by Aurier and is similarly unsure over whether Walker-Peters is a long-term solution.

Meunier has 40 international caps for Belgium, as well as seven goals in that time. He has also played 128 games for PSG over four seasons, scoring 13 times (Wikipedia).
