Report: Spurs man played with multiple cracked ribs during match last month

Joe Rodon reportedly played through Tottenham’s FA Cup clash against Morecambe last month with multiple cracked ribs, according to Football.London.

Wales international Rodon has found minutes hard to come by throughout his stint at Spurs, after completing a move from Swansea in October 2020.

However, the 24-year-old was selected by Antonio Conte to start in last month’s FA Cup third-round tie against League One outfit Morecambe alongside Japhet Tanganga and Ben Davies.

But Football.London claims Rodon was forced to play through the pain barrier of multiple injuries during the match.

The report states that before the encounter, Rodon accidentally cracked a rib and fractured a cartilage in training, but braved the injury to make himself available to face the Shrimpers.

Then in the early stages of the match, he cracked another rib on the other side after going into a robust aerial challenge which hampered his mobility for the rest of the game.

Rodon has made just eight appearances in all competitions so far this term (Transfermarkt) and has often been rooted to the bench when selected in match-day squads.

Spurs Web Opinion

Rodon has had some pretty rotten luck this season and him playing through a couple of injuries to get minutes sums it up. At the moment he could receive a chance to play with Tottenham’s defence currently looking shaky and he could come in at any point if Conte is pressed into making a change.
