Report: Spurs man finally makes return from long-term injury out on loan

Mundo Deportivo have revealed that Sergio Reguilon joined his Atletico Madrid teammates for his first training session since making the loan switch to the club in the summer this week.

Reguilon missed Tottenham’s final five matches of last season due to a groin problem and the Spaniard reportedly had surgery to fix the issue back in August.

The 25-year-old is yet to make a single matchday squad for Atletico since making a loan switch to Diego Simeone’s side.

However, that might be soon about to change, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that the left-back had his first training session this week, almost 50 days on from his move to the Spanish capital.

The report states that the former Real Madrid man has made progress and that Atletico are taking things day by day with him.

However, it is explained that there is still uncertainty about whether Reguilon can make the matchday squad for Atletico’s clash against Real Betis on Sunday.

The Colchoneros are thought to keen on acting with caution with the on-loan Tottenham man, given how long he has been out of action for.

This is great news for Reguilon as it sounds like he will be back playing before the mid-season break for the World Cup. This is also positive for Spurs as the left-back’s value will only increase ahead of next summer if he gets minutes under his belt and impresses at the Metropolitano Stadium.
