Report: Spurs man will arrive late for international duty due to personal reasons

Marca claim that Davinson Sanchez has received special permission to join up with the Colombian squad on Wednesday with the Tottenham Hotspur defender is expecting to become a father for the first time in the coming hours.

The rest of the Colombian squad is currently in Madrid, with the majority of the players having arrived on Monday.

However, coach Carlos Queiroz is said to have allowed Sanchez permission to fly into the Spanish capital tomorrow, with the defender’s partner Daniela Reina, due to deliver their child this evening.

A different report in the same publication reveals that the Spurs defender’s delay in joining up with the squad might pose a headache for Queiroz, with his side set to take on Uruguay in an all-important World Cup qualifier on Friday.

It is revealed that the former Manchester United assistant might instead decide to use an alternative for Sanchez for the clash against Uruguay.

The report also hints that Sanchez’s impending arrival could have been the reason why he was left out of from the matchday squad against West Brom but the fact that the centre-back has recently fallen down the pecking order in North London is also mentioned.
