Report: Spurs manager target signs new contract at current club

It was revealed by Ajax this morning that manager, Erik ten Hag, has signed a one-year contract extension with the Dutch club.

This seemingly puts an end to the rumours that Tottenham Hotspur were looking at ten Hag as a possible long-term replacement to Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho was sacked earlier this month just six days before the Carabao Cup Final defeat to Man City, with Ryan Mason taking interim charge of the North London side until the end of the season.

Fabrizio Romano revealed earlier this week that Tottenham had scheduled a meeting with ten Hag over the possibility of joining the club.

The journalist added that the Ajax manager was open to leaving his post in the Netherlands and his current contract only ran until 2022. However, that has now been extended to 2023.

Alasdair Gold reported recently that Tottenham want to appoint a new head coach before the end of the season to give them a chance to work with the team. However, it appears that the ten Hag ship has now sailed.
