Report: Spurs may have received boost in rumoured pursuit of David Raya

Spanish news outlet Relevo have revealed that David Raya has rejected Brentford’s latest contract offer amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Multiple publications (including The Daily Mail) have reported over recent weeks that Spurs want a goalkeeper who is good with the ball at his feet to replace Hugo Lloris in the summer, with Raya said to be one of the options on the North London club’s radar.

This has now been backed up by Relevo, who claim that Spurs are eyeing a summer move for the Brentford number one and could potentially face competition from both Manchester United and Chelsea.

The report states that the Bees have made several attempts to tie Raya down to a new contract but the goalkeeper has rejected those offers, including the latest one made last week.

This is because the 27-year-old wants to assess his options in the summer, and would like to play in the Champions League while also keeping his place in the Spanish national team.

Relevo state that the ‘most logical option’ for Brentford would be to cash in on Raya at the end of the season since the former Blackburn Rovers star would only have 12 months left on his deal at the time.

Jordan Pickford’s contract situation is the same as Raya’s and I do not expect the Everton number one to sign a new contract at Goodison Park before the end of the season. So, there could well be a three-way battle between Spurs, Man Utd and Chelsea for Raya and Pickford in the summer transfer window.
