Report: Spurs may have to compete with three PL rivals for James Maddison

The Daily Mail have reported that Tottenham face competition from three Premier League rivals for the signing of James Maddison this summer.

After a miserable season which saw Tottenham perform poorly on the pitch, and endure chaos off it, a summer of rebuilding is very much in need for the club to bounce back from an eighth-place finish this term.

Spurs will be looking to recruit a new Director of Football, and then a new permanent manager. Once those appointments are made, the small matter of clearing out the deadwood and bringing in fresh faces will begin.

With no European football next season, there is every chance that Tottenham may have to settle for a lower calibre of player than they would have initially hoped to attract. But that hasn’t stopped them from showing interest in James Maddison.

Maddison, who was relegated with Leicester City this weekend, is believed to be a target for Spurs, Newcastle, Arsenal, and Manchester City this summer.

The Mail claim that Leicester want upwards of £80m for Maddison and Harvey Barnes, while the latter should fetch around £40m. This would imply that Maddison is going for upwards of £40m.

Maddison is one name I would love to see snapped up by Spurs this summer. He feels like a perfect fit for our squad and would immediately solve many of our issues.
