Report: Spurs may now be favourites for this Chelsea star

Many football fans will have heard of the news surrounding Chelsea this week, as the Blues face a two-window ban on any transfers (BBC).

This comes after FIFA ruled that Chelsea falsified registration dates of youth players, while also paying families for first choice on certain players.

Chelsea can appeal this ruling, but if it goes ahead, the club will be unable to sign a single player in both the summer and January 2020.

This also creates some issues over players already on loan at Chelsea, as the club won’t have the opportunity to make the deals permanent.

This would affect the likes of Matteo Kovacic and Gonzalo Higuaín.

This could be good news for Spurs, and not only for the North London club to enjoy watching one of their rivals being punished.

AS reported in December that Tottenham are hoping to sign Kovacic come the summer, and with Chelsea out of the way, this could be far easier.

Kovacic is currently on loan to Chelsea from Real Madrid.
