Report: Spurs may receive potential boost in pursuit of Alessandro Bastoni

According to The Evening Standard, Inter Milan may push Tottenham Hotspur target Alessandro Bastoni out this summer.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold reported over the weekend that Bastoni is Antonio Conte’s top target for the left centre-back role but the journalist revealed RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol and Torino’s Gleison Bremer are also on Spurs’ radar.

This information was subsequently backed up by The Athletic, who stated that Gvardiol could prove the most expensive out of the three aforementioned centre-backs due to his age.

Dan Kilpatrick took to social media on Monday morning to reveal that Bastoni is reluctant to swap Inter for Spurs and that Tottenham would have to convince the centre-back to make the move.

The Evening Standard have now offered a positive update, explaining that Inter might push the 23-year-old towards an exit.

This is because the Nerrazuri are thought to be close to completing a deal for Bremer and might need to sell Bastoni to balance the books.

La Stampa (30/05/22 print edition – as relayed by TMW) have also reported on Inter’s interest in Bremer, explaining that the Nerazzurri are competing with their local rivals AC Milan for the Brazilian.

The publication suggests that Simone Inzaghi’s side are willing to include striker Andrea Pinamonti and left-back Federico Dimarco as makeweights in a deal to sign Bremer.

If Inter are making part-exchange offers for Bremer, that suggests that they are short of cash. So, they might have little choice but to cash in on Bastoni in order to fund a deal for the Brazilian and beat Milan to the signing of the Torino star. So, Bastoni’s proposed move to Spurs could move quickly if the 23-year-old gives the green light for the transfer.
