Report: Spurs may return for striker in the summer after failing to land him in January

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are set to go head to head for the signing of Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to a report in 90min.com.

It is revealed that both clubs have identified Mitrovic as the man to solve their striker woes after failing to land a forward before the January transfer window shut.

The Daily Star reported in January that Spurs enquired to Fulham about the Serbian international’s availability, only for the Cottagers to demand £40 million for their star man.

It was alleged that Fulham’s asking price put Spurs off from making a move for the powerful centre forward last month.

However, 90 min claim that the Lilywhites could return for him in the summer if Fulham fail to win promotion back to the Premier League at the end of the season.

The club are currently sitting in the playoff spots with 57 points, five points lower than Leeds United who occupy the final automatic promotion spot.

It is also claimed that Spurs and Chelsea could face competition from PSG for Mitrovic’s signature in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Mitrovic is always a handful to handle for any defence to handle and I believe he will be a fantastic addition to our squad. We have been missing a plan B in games where our approach isn’t working. The Serbian is a fantastic target man who is Premier League proven and will suit Jose Mourinho’s system.
