Report: Spurs may take advantage if La Liga striker has his release clause lowered

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Real Betis striker Loren Moron for the past two months and the rumours are showing no signs of going away.

Moron has enjoyed a good season for the La Liga side, managing eleven goals and three assists in all competitions throughout this campaign (transfermarkt.com).

Tottenham are said to be keen on signing the Spanish international and it is suggested that Moron is open to the prospect of moving to North London (Estadio Deportivo).

La Razon (as relayed by Sport Witness) have now revealed that the Lilywhites could be primed to take advantage as the striker’s release clause is set to be lowered.

The report claims that Betis want to extend Moron’s contract but they would have to decrease his release clause from €60 million to €50 million in order to convince him to do so.

It is suggested that, if the striker’s release clause is lowered to €50m, Spurs are ready to take advantage of the situation and snap him up this summer.

This report makes several extremely questionable claims. We are unlikely to be in a position to spend €50m on any player this summer. Besides, Moron is certainly not worth anywhere near that amount. Additionally, if Spurs will be able to pay €50m for the striker but aren’t in a position to afford his current €60m release clause, then it doesn’t really make sense for Betis to renew his contract.
