Report: Spurs may try to use relationship with La Liga club to sign two players

Marca have revealed that Tottenham can use the relationship they have built with Atletico Madrid to try and snap up Yannick Carrasco and Jan Oblak next summer.

Tottenham are expected to be in the market for Hugo Lloris’ successor in the summer, with The Evening Standard reporting last month that Oblak is one of the names on the North London club’s wishlist.

Carrasco is another player who has been linked with a move to Spurs recently, with the print edition of Marca (17/12/22 via Sport Witness) revealing in December that the Belgian would consider joining the Lilywhites if they reignite their interest in him.

If Marca’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs might move for both the wing-back and the goalkeeper at the end of the season.

The publication states that Tottenham have built an ‘extraordinary relationship’ with Atletico over recent months after allowing Sergio Reguilon and Matt Doherty to join the club.

The report adds that Carrasco has been on Antonio Conte’s wishlist in the past and that the Colchoneros value the 29-year-old at €20m (£17.8m).

Marca add that Spurs could also try and sign Oblak, who is said to be tempted by the prospect of playing in the Premier League after spending nearly a decade at the La Liga club.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Carassco is likely to be on Tottenham’s radar any longer, given his drop-off over the last 12 months.

Besides, I do not expect Spurs to be in the market for a wing-back next summer, with Conte now having enough options in Perisic, Udogie, Porro, Spence and Emerson.

While Tottenham may consider a move for Oblak, I think Pickford and Raya will likely be the club’s top targets to replace Lloris next summer.
