Report: Spurs midfield target set to snub United, City, and Liverpool to move to Tottenham

The transfer rumours are now in full flow and the latest player linked with a move to Tottenham is highly regarded Sporting Lisbon midfielder, Bruno Fernandes (Record).

Fernandes enjoyed a stunning season at Sporting in 2018/19. The Portuguese midfielder scored an impressive 20 goals while also managing 13 assists in 33 league appearances.

Fernandes most recently started for his national side in their 3-1 win against Switzerland. Portugal will now look to defeat the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League final on Sunday.

Although the transfer rumours surrounding Fernandes’ future have already begun it seems unlikely that any progress will be made until after the Nations League final.

Despite interest from both Liverpool and Manchester United, Portuguese news outlet Record are reporting that Fernandes will snub both clubs to secure a move to North London.

Tottenham will be looking to line up a replacement for Christian Eriksen should the Dane leave the club this summer. Although United have reportedly tabled a bid of their own, a move to Spurs seems more appealing to Fernandes as it gives him the chance to play Champions League football next season (Daily Express).

Spurs Web Opinion

Fernandes’ numbers certainly make for impressive reading and it is good to see us linked with high profile targets ahead of the potential departure of Christian Eriksen.

However, with proposed moves for both Giovani Lo Celso (Mirror) and Tanguy N’Dombele (Metro) as well it seems unlikely that Levy would shell out in excess of £150 million to secure all three. Only time will tell which midfield starlet will complete the switch to North London this summer.
