Report: Spurs midfielder hands Pochettino boost ahead of Champions League final

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has been handed several injury boosts this week ahead of the Champions League final on June 1.

Harry Kane, Davison Sanchez, and Jan Vertonghen were all pictured back in training after recovering from recent injuries (Tottenham Twitter).

However, perhaps an even more pivotal figure for Spurs this season has been back in full training since Monday, according to the Independent, as Harry Winks enjoyed a miraculous three-week recovery after undergoing groin surgery.

Winks has been Pochettino’s first choice central midfielder through the majority of the season, paired alongside Moussa Sissoko.

Poch would love to have his first choice pair in the engine room together against Liverpool, rather than being forced to change formation or use out-of-form Eric Dier or Victor Wanyama.

The Independent add that Winks could be fit to rejoin Sissoko in the lineup in just over a week, with Spurs flying out to Madrid on Wednesday.

This would be a fantastic story for the Spurs academy lad, as he has fought desperately to return in time for the biggest match in the history of his boyhood club.

Spurs Web Opinion:

By the time the final comes around, Winks would have had around two weeks of full training under his belt, which I believe is enough to warrant a start in Madrid. I think that having that solidity, familiarity, and creative drive with Winks and Sissoko together could be extremely vital against Liverpool. Fingers crossed Harry keeps up his return to fitness and makes it to the starting XI in Madrid.
