Report: Spurs midfielder linked with January exit but wants to fight for his place

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama is the subject of apparent interest from West Bromwich Albion.

According to The Mail, The Kenyan have already contacted Spurs with a view to a potential switch this month, but Wanyama does not want to drop down and play Championship football.

Wanyama has had an injury hit couple of seasons due to ongoing knee problems and has not featured since the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace in early November.

The report claims that Spurs are open to offers for the 27-year-old who has only started one Premier League match this season.

Wanyama wants to stay and fight for his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad but his injury issues are causing a concern.

He joined Spurs from Southampton in June 2016 for a fee of around £11million and penned a five-year deal (Guardian). During his first season at the club he was a revelation in midfield with commanding performances week in, week out only for his knee to halt his progress.

He missed four months of action last season after opting against undergoing surgery.
