Report: Spurs midfielder on the radar of Premier League high-fliers

Eurosport have claimed that Harry Winks is one of the names on Everton’s radar ahead of the January transfer window with the Toffees looking to bolster their options in midfield to aid them in their push for a top four finish.

Winks made his first Premier League appearance in more than two months yesterday when he came on in place of Serge Aurier as a second-half substitute against Leicester City.

Jose Mourinho admitted after the game that the 24-year-old did have a positive impact on proceedings.

However, he could do little to stop Tottenham from falling to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home.

Winks and Dele Alli have both been mentioned as potential targets for Everton in the past (Mirror).

Eurosport claim that the Carlo Ancelotti’s side knows that a deal for Dele Alli is unlikely  since the former MK Dons man is set to receive plenty of offers from aboard.

However, they suggest that Winks and Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira are two players on the top of Everton’s wish list next month.

Khedira has previously also been mentioned as a target for Spurs (Football Italia) but Eurosport reveal that the German international has already spoken to Ancelotti about a potential move to Goodison Park.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given Everton’s recent results, it would appear that they are likely to be our direct rivals for a top-four spot this season. So, I see no reason why we would consider selling or loaning out any of our players to them. In fact, it is pretty clear that Winks will have an important role to play for the rest of the season, given our ambitions to compete on all fronts.
