Report: Spurs midfielder picks up injury ahead of international duty

In what comes as a potential blow to Tottenham Hotspur and Antonio Conte, the Denmark FA have revealed that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has picked up an injury.

Conte has stuck with a 3-4-3 system and the same starting eleven for his two games in charge of Tottenham against Vitesse Arnhem and Everton.

The Italian has preferred to go with a midfield pairing of Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp in order to protect his back three.

However, he has to make some changes for Leeds’ trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following the international break, with Skipp suspended for the match after being booked at Goodison Park.

The Italian now faces the possibility of also being without Skipp’s midfield partner Hojbjerg after it emerged that the 26-year-old has picked up an injury on international duty.

A message posted on Twitter by the Danish FA did not specify the nature of Hojbjerg’s injury but revealed that the Spurs midfielder will miss the clash against the Faroe Islands on Friday.

However, they did reveal that they are hopeful that the former Southampton man could be involved in their clash against Scotland next week.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that they are hopeful of having Hojbjerg back for the clash against Scotland suggests that he should be fit to play against Leeds.

Losing Hojbjerg and Skipp together would certainly be a big blow for Conte as the likes of Ndombele, Winks and Lo Celso do not possess the same aggression or defensive awareness as the pair.
