Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Oliver Skipp over a new contract, according to Football Insider.

The report claims that Spurs source has revealed that an agreement in principle is in place and it is expected an announcement will be made soon after he puts pen to paper on the extension.

Skipp last signed a four-year contract in July 2020 while Jose Mourinho was in charge with the Portuguese tipping the young midfielder to become a future captain of Tottenham (Sky Sports) and his latest deal will see him be rewarded with a ‘major pay hike’.

The England Under-21 international has been his season grind to a halt due to a problematic groin issue that has kept him sidelined since appearing as a second half substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on 23 January.

Antonio Conte revealed at yesterday’s pre-Newcastle United press conference that the midfielder is set to return to the first team fold shortly (Spurs official).

Skipp returned in the summer from his successful season-long loan spell at Norwich City and proved early on under Nuno Espirito Santo that he was ready to be a regular in the Spurs midfield, hopefully he can shake off the groin issue and forge a formidable partnership with Rodrigo Bentancur for the remaining matches of the campaign.
