Report: Spurs midfielder to sign three-year deal with La Liga side

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Erik Lamela will sign a three-year contract with Sevilla, according to Sky Sports.

The Argentine international is on the verge of moving to the Spanish side as part of a deal that will see Spurs also pay £21.6million to sign Bryan Gil.

Lamela’s current contract with Spurs is set to expire in June of next year and will now look to get his first taste of football in La Liga.

The Argentine has made 257 appearances in all competitions for the North Londoners, scoring 37 goals and assisting 47 (transfermarkt).

The 29-year-old will become the final player to depart Tottenham from the labelled ‘magnificent seven‘ following the recruitment in the summer of 2013 which saw the club sign Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen, Paulinho, Vlad Chiriches, Etienne Capoe and Lamela.

Lamela’s career at Spurs has hit the buffers and it would do both him and the club the world of good to part company.

Just like when Lamela arrived as a 21-year-old, Gil is a highly-regarded young winger who will be looking to make an impression in the Premier League with his pace and quick feet.
